Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council

Can I transfer pension benefits into the LGPS?

In most cases it is possible to transfer benefits in from other pension schemes.

If you wish to transfer into the Rhondda Cynon Taf Pension Fund download a Transfer In Application Form from the ‘Fund documents and forms’ section.

Please be advised you have 12 months from the date you joined the scheme to transfer any previous rights into the fund. Transfers are explained in further detail in the New Member Declaration Form – Notes document which is available for you to download from the “Scheme Documents” Section of your My Pension Online account, which can be accessed here; https://mypensiononline.rctpensions.org.uk/login. Please note you will need to log into your My Pension Online account (or register if you haven't already done so) to review this form.

More information regarding transferring can also be found on the LGPS member website here; https://www.lgpsmember.org/your-pension/paying-in/transferring-in/

It is recommended that you seek independent financial advice before going ahead to make sure it is in your best interests to do so.

For further information please download a copy of the Transferring Your Benefits factsheet .

If you think that you may have pension benefits from a previous workplace or personal pension scheme and you have lost track of where they are held you can visit www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details to find the contact details of the relevant organisation.
